It is the first of the two tuna seiners that the yard is building for Al Wusta. This unit has a 1,800m3 load capacity and has been built using a Cintranaval design.
‘Acila’ is designed with an emphasis on the quality of the materials and finishes, on improving efficiency, consumption and speed, and a cold system to meet the shipowner’s requirements. The deck equipment was delivered by TH Marco; the vessel is fitted with a Simrad and Furuno fish detection system, and a Kinarca freezer and ultra-freezer plant.
Itxasmarine also provided the turnkey electrical engineering, IAS, transverse thrust and CCTV for the vessel.
This new vessel is proof of Al Wusta’s commitment to developing tuna fishing in Oman. Al Wusta is striving to become a benchmark in the treatment of its tuna catches; as, apart fromr tanks to store the fish for the traditional canning industry, it has dry tuna ultrafreezer tunnels at ‐60ºC. This innovation will allow Al Wusta to directly bring top quality tuna to the end user.
The vessel is 85 metres in length, has a 14-metre beam and a thrust of 4,640 kW.
This vessel and her twin have further consolidated Zamakona Shipyard as a builder of freezer tuna seiners with seven delivered in under a decade.
