What we do

Competitiveness and Internationalisation

The Basque Country has a long seafaring tradition. Its past, present and future are closely linked to the sea, which has provided the region with wealth, industrial development and culture.

Thanks to its ongoing investment in R&D&I and its ability to adapt to the requirements of the international market, the industry has maintained its strength and the Basque Country has become one of the few regions globally able to design, built and fit out a vessel with 95% local components and services.

The Basque maritime industry currently exports 80% of its production.

The BMF organises activities aimed at bolstering the competitiveness and internationalisation of the companies to expand their presence on the international market and its consolidation as a shipbuilding-maritime technological and industrial hub.

Objectives:

01. Foster the internationalisation of the companies.

02. Support diversification and access to new market niches.

03. Promote sources of funding and tax incentives.
